I’d just said goodbye to my darling heart dog, Jonty, and was understandably heartbroken. The house was too quiet and for the first time in my life I felt completely alone.
I strongly believe that you can never replace a dog, but you can certainly love another... so I knew when I was ready, I’d adopt again. Jonty passed away at the end of May, and I thought I’d give myself until the end of the year to mourn him and be ready to adopt in January. Three months later, this little face popped up on my Facebook and I knew she was meant for me.
I’ve never looked for a dog; all my dogs have found me.
Cassie was rescued with her brother and sister in Lavender Hill in June by Rescue is Life. She spent a few weeks with foster mom Suzy Joubert and came home to me at the age of two months.
She brought so much life and sunshine into my home and it was as if she knew she had big paws to fill and needed to help heal her mom’s broken heart.
Cassie, also fondly called and known as “The Kangaroo”, has a sparkling personality. She has bounds of energy and loves running with her friends. She’s super intelligent and is a real social butterfly. She has the weirdest sleeping positions, often making me wonder if she’s “broken”!
Cassie loves going for walks at Van Riebeek and De Waal Parks, especially when she can run through the stream, as well as playing in the surf on the beach. She loves playing catch and loves showing off how fast and nimble she is.
So from Lavender Hill to Mouille Point, Cassie captures hearts wherever she goes – a little bundle of energy and sunshine – a true blessing.
