This story feels extra special...

Gibson came to us as a little farm puppy. The farm belonged to an elderly couple who loved him dearly but sadly couldn’t afford to give him the care he needed. So he arrived at Wet Nose with big eyes, a gentle heart, and a whole lot of love to give.

From day one, Gibson has been the kind of dog who makes friends wherever he goes. Staff, visitors – it didn’t matter who you were – if you were nearby, you were his new best friend. He’s always had the sweetest nature and the softest way of looking at you, like he was just grateful to be included. But, for 11 long years, he remained up for adoption.

Then on Valentine’s Day, the 14th of February 2026, love truly won! Gibson walked out of our gates with his very own forever family and into a place where he’ll be loved, spoiled, and cherished; exactly the way he deserves.

Thank you to his incredible new family for choosing an older boy and giving him the beautiful future he’s always deserved.

Here’s to new beginnings, warm beds, and a lifetime of love!

Gustav, Gibson’s new owner, shares...

We went to Wet Nose at the end of January to give back to the animals that we love and adore. Little did we know that we were the ones getting the biggest blessing.

We had a wonderful day loving on the dogs at Wet Nose and taking a few of them out for walks. It was on one of these walks that Gibson stood out to us. He had the most adorable “old man” walk and absolutely loved every minute exploring outside. Although shy, as the walk progressed we could just see the life in Gibson and how much he enjoyed being loved on.

On returning to the kennels, I glanced at the information boards. Our hearts instantly broke and the tears began to flow. This beautiful and gentle soul had been at the rescue centre for 11 years. And yet, after all those years, he was still so open to love.

Once we drove off, the discussions immediately started. We knew that we were going to adopt Gibson. It just felt right!

It’s only fitting that we adopted Gibson on Valentine’s Day – a day where everyone deserves love and second chances.

Gibson has truly made the most wonderful addition to our home and has amazed us with his ability to adapt, even at his age. We feel truly blessed to witness the ever-increasing tail wags and excited toe taps. We couldn’t imagine our home without him!
